1458 eruption pair
Once called the 1452 or 1453 Kuwae eruption. Law Dome dating moved it to 1458 or 1459. A 2025 Vostok glass-shard study found two compositions: dacitic shards that fit Kuwae in Vanuatu and rhyolitic shards pointing to an undocumented high-latitude southern volcano. Reclus in Patagonia is a poor fit.
