Clue from people AD 1490 Chinese (Ming History, 1739) 📍 Qingyang, Gansu, China

Ming History: 'at Qingyang it rained stones beyond counting... largest like goose eggs, smallest like foxnut seeds' (3rd month 1490), no deaths

Mingshi juan 28, falling-stones section: 弘治三年三月,慶陽雨石無數,大小不一,大者如鵝卵,小者如芡實. The compilers kept hail (雹) in its own section, so they filed this under stones because their source said 石. The source is not the court's daily record (see a-qingyang-shilu); perhaps a local gazetteer.
