Japanese court diaries: no red or white vapour in 992 to 993
Hand search of the Kokiroku full-text database (25 October 2026). 赤気 (red vapour): 3 hits, all in the Kanmon Nikki of the 1400s (1416 storm glow, 1418 solar halo, 1433 fireball). 白気 (white vapour): 31 hits, most of them the false match 関白気色 'the Regent's mood'; real sky reports only in 973 (Heiki, astronomer Abe no Seimei) and 1098 (Chuyuki). The database treats 氣 and 気 as the same. Nothing for 正暦 (990 to 995). Not yet checked: whether the Shoyuki survives for those months, so the silence may only mean a lost diary.
