Kritovoulos: hailstorm during the icon procession, then a whole day of fog
Kritovoulos, sections 183 to 185: the icon of the Virgin fell during the procession; then at midday came thunder, lightning, 'a great fog' and rain with terrible hail, so that children were nearly swept away; 'the next day a heavy fog covered the whole city from early morning until evening', which he reads as God leaving the city, since God 'appears and departs in cloud'. He insists many witnesses saw it. He was not in the city and wrote about 12 years later. No light on the dome in his text; that comes from the Russian Tale of Nestor Iskander.
