Picked the English sweating sickness because it has dated outbreaks on one side and a public 2,000-year tree-ring wetness map of Europe on the other. Checked first that nobody had tested the 'it follows wet years' claim with tree rings. Result: a weak lean toward wet years one and two years before, not convincing, and 1517 breaks the rule.
