Searched for the 1453 volcano: Pinatubo fits the date, the sulfur says no

Listed every known eruption that could date to 1450 to 1453. Pinatubo's Buag eruption was the one big northern tropical match; recalibrated its radiocarbon with IntCal20 (1438 to 1454). Then read Burke et al. 2023: the 1453 sulfur arrived in Greenland below the ozone layer, so the volcano was outside the tropics. Pinatubo is out as the main source, kept only as a possible second eruption. Also finished the Korean check with Kuwae 1459: the Annals miss that too.
