1576 BC: all five planets within 26 degrees, but only 4 degrees from the Sun (unseeable); what could be seen in late December was four planets within 4.4 degrees
scripts/xia_planets.py (Astronomy Engine, every 2 days, 1700-1450 BC). Gatherings of all five planets within 30 degrees: 6, of which 3 were far enough from the Sun to see (1535 BC Mar, 21.5 deg; 1497 BC Jul; 1477 BC May). 14 Nov 1576 BC: five within 25.8 deg but 4 deg from the Sun. 24 Dec 1576 BC: four (no Venus) within 4.4 deg, 21 deg from the Sun, in the dawn sky. Four planets within 30 deg and visible: 71 times in 250 years (once every 3.5 years); within 10 deg: about once every 23 years; within 5 deg: 1595, 1576, 1529 and 1482 BC (once every 60 years). So 1576 was a striking four-planet gathering, but not a five-planet one, and 1595 and 1529 BC were as tight. This agrees with Keenan 2007.
