Joshua's 'Sun stand still' was the annular eclipse of 30 October 1207 BC

Checked 25 October 2026. Astronomy: confirmed. The ring of fire crossed Gibeon whatever reasonable Delta T is used, and it is the only near-certain central eclipse there between 1300 and 1132 BC, so the choice is not cherry-picked. Against it: it happened with the Sun only 7 degrees above the horizon just before sunset, which fits 'the sun stood in the midst of heaven' poorly; the midday total eclipse of 1131 BC fits that phrase but had only a 44 percent chance of being total at Gibeon. Whether the story remembers an eclipse at all is a question about the text, not the sky. Our calculation independently reproduces Khalisi 2021, so nothing here is new.
