Reran the Odyssey eclipse date search over 1,400 years
Installed Astronomy Engine, checked it against the paper's own numbers for 1178 BC, then applied the paper's rules to every new Moon from 2000 to 601 BC. The clues fit a date about every 64 years, not once in 2,000; and the eclipse had only about a 1 in 3 chance of being total at Ithaca.
